The Motivation Behind the Creation of Archetypal Mind
Your Freewill & Meta Teachings
Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
In today's article, I delve into my motives and reasons for launching Archetypal Mind. This may be a strange statement, but I feel that it is an important one. Why have I created this website, and what do I expect to gain or lose from progressing it?
I have been writing down my thoughts, ideas, emotions and theories for a long time. Within the last ten years or so, they have progressed into coherent essays, articles and a book of thematic meditative poems. Ostensibly, as I have recently discovered, I was really writing for myself. A part or an aspect of me desired to capture the interpretation of my own experiences, into coherent collections of conceptual complexes. My writings are a sort of autobiography of my conscious development, a collection of perspectives gathered into metaphysical groupings, which attempt to make some sort of sense, at least to me, of myself and the world around me, when perceived from my subjective perspective.
I have been conditioned, just like everybody else, by my past events, which have shaped my outlook. The endeavour that I undertake is to discern the nature of that conditioning and slowly release myself from its constraints. My central objective is to free myself from whatever it is that limits me. I seek to unveil whatever is veiled from my conscious awareness. I'm in search of my authentic essence nature.
As I have written about in Two Halves of Life, in the first half of my life, I searched for meaning and purpose in the outside world of objective experiences, constituted by places, substances, relationships, incidents and the enterprise of truth seeking, through devouring vast quantities of diverse knowledge. It was only at the age of forty-seven that I realised my own apparent 'emotional brokenness,' did that exploration turn inwards and I conceded that I was somehow repressing unprocessed trauma in my unconscious, which was impacting how I perceived myself and the external world. Over the ensuing period to the present, this has led me to deeply explore that inner landscape, using a variety of approaches, tools, modalities and metaphysical frameworks.
"Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Earlier this year I launched Archetypal Mind because I wanted to open myself to the external environment, by effectively saying, "I am sufficiently confident in the coherence of my collected perspectives, that I am able to reveal them to the World." These perspectives represent the 'fringe.' They don't align at all with the 'mainstream' whatsoever! Some might say that they are subversive, radical, non-conformist, spiritual woo-woo! And from the mainstream's perspective, I would agree that they are, or at least appear to be. However, I'm aware that history describes many such undertakings, by radical fringe explorers, which retrospectively have been seen as critical and necessary junctures, which have been revolutionary aspects in paradigm shifts. I am not counting myself into that group, merely echoing a well-known dynamic in human development.
"As we serve others, we are working on ourselves; every act, every word, every gesture of genuine compassion naturally nourishes our own hearts as well. It is not a question of who is healed first. When we attend to ourselves with compassion and mercy, more healing is made available for others. And when we serve others with an open and generous heart, great healing comes to us."
- Wayne Muller
I don't present myself as an 'activist', nor a revolutionary! I am not a scientist, nor a philosopher. I don't even see myself as a spiritual, as such, because the term is loaded with connotations which categorise and diminish my aspirations. If I have a leaning, it is towards psychology, only because as I have stated in my article 'Psychology - The Master Discipline,' the study of why we think and act the way we do as a species, is fundamental to our exploration of ourselves and the nature of reality. I have no 'formal' training in any discipline whatsoever! This leaves me free to contemplate a decentralised approach to the previously stated exploration in the last sentence. The only authority that I have is the personal, intimate, investigation into myself and the continuous observation of others and my interactions with them. I'm committed to the examination of my shadow aspects, which I can't directly see. In pursuit of this I'm prepared to over-own my shadow, to minimise the possibility of under-owning it, based upon the assumption that humans by nature tend to be less accountable than more. I'm by no means claiming that I'm perfect at this; however, since the principle aim of my endeavour is to exhume, meet and resolve my conditioning, through opening my heart to myself and others in love, compassion and forgiveness, owning what is in my shadow is of the highest importance. I therefore assume the darkest and then draw back towards the light as 'others' ratify triangulated positions into my feedback mechanism.
As explained in my article 'What Are Meta-Teachings and Why Are They Useful,' My adopted position upon 'truth' is based upon the principle that at the heart of reality is a mystery, which will forever remain so, no matter how far we evolve, or how advanced our science and technology becomes. Secondary to that is the assumption that all truths can only be at best 'half-truths,' based upon the acceptance of dualisms at work within our minds. Within my work, truth is not the destination! In fact, there is no destination, for the journey is more important than the arrival at a place, position or stance.
"Great acts are made up of small deeds." - Lao Tzu
So why should you read my work? Well, the only claims that I make are to faithfully follow my own intuition, which arises within me. To not only talk-the-talk, but to walk-the-talk, and live life as a physical extension of their conceptualisation, as a practice, no matter what the risk appears to be. For any fear is just conditioning, which resists the moment we find ourselves within. I will push the edge beyond the comfort zone, throwing everything 'on the line' to open all aspects of myself to the unknown mystery, out beyond the cultural enclosure. I will meet myself again and again, letting go of all that no longer serves my highest evolution. I vow to serve humanity in whatever way that I'm called to, not from without, but from within. I will aspire to balance the shadow and follow my heart, dropping conception after ideation, after construct, allowing all that arises to be met with acceptance. Fame, wealth and power are of no interest to my purpose, for they are encumbrances from the epoch that is passing away. Self-evaluation, self-realisation and self-development represent the holy trinity of thesis, anthesis and synthesis, deconstructing objectivity to open into the infinitude of wholeness, as the many unite into the One. My deepest undertaking is to realise fullness, not just as a mental process, but also as an embodied and spiritual process, in the initiation of releasing identity with my conditioning.
I align myself with the journey of the Traveller, or more specifically the Fool detailed in my blog entitled 'The Great Way - The Travellers Journey.' My perspective is one of integral-realisation or simply integralisation. It is the conscious integration of the various stages of conscious development discussed in my article 'Levels of Consciousness', from archaic, through magic, mythic, rational, plural, resulting in the unification of the integral and super integral, where these differing levels of experience, are integrated into a multi-dimensional, continuum of experiences, from which to choose from, which orientates me towards the Choice. For me that comes down to two paths: Serving Others or Serving the Separate Self.
Each of us has freewill in the form of the Choice, to choose a path to pursue. We can either defend and fortress our wounded selves, by closing our hearts to others, by taking the narcissistic approach that is only interested in one's own perspective, wellbeing and livelihood. Or we can attempt to open our hearts, even though we have probably experienced mostly heartache, betrayal and rejection, incarceration and torture, because the inner light of compassion for others and the planet, burns bright within us and shines out in an unstoppable torrent of love and forgiveness. We have all manifested an 'Experiential Continuum' around ourselves, for the express purpose of making this Choice.
Therefore:
I hereby irrevocably choose service to the One Infinite Creator, to the Great Mother, which is the Intelligent Energy of Universal Kinetic manifestation, to all beings everywhere, to planet Earth, who is Gaia, and to all species of biological life upon and in her. I make this choice out of my own freewill, with the greatest of intention.
I commit to reviewing my actions and thoughts in order to perceive and rectify unconscious, patterns, beliefs and thoughts that misalign with the service of my separate self, who defends itself, justifies itself, and judges itself and others.
I vow to see, greet and accept the shadow in all choices, actions and beliefs with love, compassion, balancing the darkness within the self, within others, and within the creation.
I fervently desire to bring forth what gifts and talents lay within me to aid and assist the other, without impinging upon their freewill, in making the Choice for themselves at this time.
I pledge to search out and free myself from any impediment within me that impacts my ability to achieve any of the above.
